The position in which your site ranks in the search engine results can make or break an otherwise good site. Few people are going to go five pages deep in Google to find your site, getting in the first few pages at the very least can enormously increase visits!
Everyone wants an attractive looking site, but the content you present is more important. If visitors aren’t interested in what your site has to say they won’t return and duplicate content can be almost as bad as bad content!
Don’t use the same meta tags on different pages, your meta tags should be page specific! Title tags should also be relevant to each page. Adding the website name or some other key word not pertaining to that page can hurt your search engine rankings.
Making any changes to an already established web site can temporarily hurt you rankings. But, these changes will optimize your site for the search engines and in the long term will increase you chance for success!
